    Hey all,

Is there a way to rename GBA games on the G6? DS ROMs appear in the G6 menu with the same name as their corresponding files. GBA games, however, have their own weird names. Is there a way to rename them? Would sure be convenient.

    Thanks

More than likely the strange names are what is inside your zip files. Unzip and rename the gba file to what you want before copying to the G6.

Nope, that's not the problem. My zip files have the same name as the file inside them. Even tried without zipping, still get the strange names.

These strange names are most likly the U-Disk software trying to rename the GBA file to chinese, it used to do it with the DS games too.

Check to see if there is an option in the U-Disk manager to rename the way the G6 displays the name, i can't check myself as i'm on my laptop which dosn't have UDisk installed.

No options in the U-Disk manager. But it's not a chinese renaming problem. The name's aren't complete gibberish, they just don't match the file names. For instance, "Breath Of Fire" is renamed BOF1, "Golden Sun" is renamed Golden_Sun_AAGSE. It's just annoying not having the names I want.

Strange, I posted a reply yesterday but it seems to have never made it...

Anyway, it's not a chinese renaming problem. The names are not gibberish, just not what I want them to be (i.e. the file's actual name). For instance, "Breath Of Fire.zip" containing "Breath Of Fire.gba" and nothing else, appears in the menu as BOF1. "Golden Sun.zip" appears as Golden_Sun_AAGSE. Weird, but not unusable. It's just annoying, and I wanted to know if there was a way around it.

[bold]Edit:[/bold]Re-weird, my previous answer ssems to have resurfaced. My eyes must be really tired, I think I better get some sleep :)

Sorry for the delay in getting back to you, been installing Vista on my desktop.

From what you saying it souns like the Udisk manager is getting the name of the game form the ROM itself. I dn't think there is a way around it doing this, though you could try emailing the G6 Team to ask.

I never noticed his happening with my GBA games, just lucky that the ROMs i use contained the names without the jibberish :p

Also, as a side note, this does happen to me too, i tried Golden Sun as a test.

Thanks for always being there mr_hanky, no sweat on the delay, you can't be everywhere all the time :)
Do you by any chance have contact info for the G6 team? I could do a search, but I'm too lazy... ;)
And good luck playing with Vista, been trying it for a while but I'll keep my current config until I buy a DirectX 10 card next year. But that's waaaaaaay off topic! :)
