you can also just change the filename from ngc to iso with the "change name" option in windows.

Burn with any of the new versions of nero.. (from 4.0 and upwords should work fine) Burn then normal way with open and select iso and finalize.

    It works for me atleast.

Just don't use Nero 7 since it seems to have issues with burning GC iso files.

does that mean any version of iso pertaining to v6.x.x.x.x. will work, only v7.x.x.x.x is the trouble maker?

All you have to do is rename .gcm to .iso. Simple as that.

    From in Explorer:
Tools>Folder Options>View>Files and Folders>Hide extensions for known file types.

    Make sure that is unchecked.

Then, go to the GC disc image, hit F2, go to the end of the filename where it ends in .gcm and just rename it to .iso.

Yes, it really IS that easy! NO tricks, NO magic, NO brilliance needed. Though, in your case, maybe a bit of intelligence would help out.

First off, make sure that extensions are showing. Extensions are the last three characters after the period in a filename. If the file doesn't look like this "gamenamehere.gcm" then you do not have them enabled and will need to do the following. Open up a folder, click on Tools, then Options. Go to the View tab and find the checkbox that says 'hide extension for known file types'

Make sure that is UNchecked. after that, right click the icon that you want to rename and select 'rename' delete the gcm part and insert iso.

Of course this all assumes that you are using windows, if not I can't help ya ;)

To answer the other questions, just make sure that you burn as an image, in Nero, I believe File>Open does the job. Also make sure the box for Finalize is checked. Unfortunately the fun doesn't end there, you also need to find out what kind of media your cube will play.

Good luck! and if you need any more help, feel free to post.

    thank you,

I renamed it. This file need to be ran through FSTFIX because its only 352 MB. Are you allowed to tell me where to get his from because I can't find it.

many people say to use NERO 6 not 7. should I go for NERO 6?

What is a good burner that works well with NGC?

    1. Those are indeed the correct discs.

    2. Which program? FSTFIX or NERO?

you have to use fstfix w/ msdos prompt.

If you don't know how to use MS-DOS prompt, google for it or just ask here and I'll get back to you.

I got the program to work. Do I put the file want to fix in the same directory like if fstfix is in C:\ Should I put the gcm file in the same directory? Also I want to build this file back up to the proper size what option do I use? what do the other options do?

Im pretty sure if you just run it in dos (i.e. just type fstfix.exe) w/o anything else it will give you the details on options. Yes, the .gcm file must be in the same directory as fstfix, i.e. both in the root C:/.

    C:\>fstfix

fstfix v1.5 Wiped GCM Fixer by SlideR/LOONYCUBE!

    USAGE: fstfix.exe IMAGE.GCM [option] ...

    [F] = FULLSIZE :Output ISO.
[G] = 3 GIGS SIZE :Output ISO. (May resolve *DISK ERROR READING*.)
    = STREAMFIX auto detection. (!BETA!).
    [T] = Force 32k align files.

    Example:

FSTFIX image.gcm = ALIGN respecting Data And Streaming.
    FSTFIX image.gcm t = ALIGN 32k (Force all files on 32k)
    FSTFIX image.gcm f = ALIGN + FULLSIZE.
    FSTFIX image.gcm g = ALIGN + 3GIGASIZE.
    FSTFIX image.gcm s = ALIGN + STREAMFIX.
    FSTFIX image.gcm s f = ALIGN + STERAMFIX + FULLSIZE.
    FSTFIX image.gcm s g = ALIGN + STERAMFIX + 3GIGASIZE.
    FSTFIX image.gcm t s f = ALIGN 32k + STERAMFIX + FULLSIZE.
    FSTFIX image.gcm t s g = ALIGN 32k + STERAMFIX + 3GIGASIZE.

    C:\>

This is what appears. if I use the fullsize option(F) I get a 5mb gcm file. What should I do?

If I use ImgBurn to burn my backups do I need to rename my image file from .gcm to .iso before I burn to DVD? The reason I ask is because I see a lot of post that say to rename .gcm to .iso but ImgBurn can open the .gcm so I don't think I need to rename. Am I correct?
