If the main movie is not in first group of vob files ex: 01_0, 01_1, 01_2
do they have to be renamed? Is there any specific way do so?

    ag15579,

You don't have to rename the VOB files. You can burn them as they are. If you change them, the movie might not play until you edit the precommand in Ifoedit.

They don't have to be renamed even to play in a home dvd player?

Nope. If the movie files are vts_05_1.VOB through vts_05_6.VOB they can be burned that way. The movie will play in a stand alone(assuming you did everything else correctly).
