    Hello,
I have been using MY DVD 4.5.2 to move digital movies from my camcorder then burn them to DVD's. Had pretty good success for awhile but now My DVD seems to not want to complete it's tasks. I have been reading this forum for sometime and I feel there surely is someone out there who can help me. I know very little about this hobby and I find most of the talk on this fourm way above my head and very confusing. What I want to find is a software suite that contains all of the software I need to go from my camcorder to my PC to DVD. Something like My DVD but something that works. I would prefer not to have a different software for each phase of the process. I know, if I would get more involved and learn to use these different softwares I could probably get a better product. The fact is, I am not as skilled as most of you and what is pleasing to my eye is much less refinded that what is pleasing to you. What I need is much less than what you need.

Can you help me? If so, it would be appreciated more than you can understand.

    Thanks

you can use Nero to capture your video from your camcorder and then convert it with Nero to DVD. I don't know if your cmacorder comes with software to capture or if you have other programs than My DVD that captures your camcorder movies but with Nero suite you can capture and then convert to DVD! Give me a little bit more of how you do it and then I can give you a guide on how to use Nero to do what you've been doing. ok?

Also...... when was the last time you cleaned out your computer. making DVDs with My DVD is very computer intense and there is a possibility that your computer is clogged up with useless temp files and your hard drive might need a good defragging that is causing your computer to be unsucessful with My DVD! Download CCleaner and clean out your registry.... then defrag your hard drive.... then you can try to use My DVD again and see if you have better sucess! but nero should be able to do all the things you want to do! good luck.

    IHoe,
    Thanks for the reply.

The way I have been processing is pretty simple. I transfer the video from my camcorder (Sony) to my PC (Windows 2000) via firewire. Then I use MyDVD to burn the video to a DVD. At present I am not editing because MyDVD does not do a good job of that.

As far as cleaning up my PC. I regularly run defrag, anti virus, spyware as well as deleting files.

Again, thanks for the help, it is greatly appreciated.

so use ConvertXToDVD to convert your video files to DVD Compliant and let ConvertXToDVD burn the DVD for you!

That's a very vague statement "not want to complete it's tasks", what tasks specifically?

I wouldn't worry about the "refined" part, you'll notice that folks here often recommend $20 crap players.

MyDVD does OK when moving the video from the camera to the PC but when attempting to burn the DVD I get a message:
"Could not complete the last command becasue: OS err (OSErr, 331778).

    Thanks
