Hello, I have a Samsung MS25 that has been modded with the newest iXtreme. I don't have the original firmware saved as i didnt mod it, but i was able to download it. Anyways, I also have a Hitachi drive in working condition but the guy i got it off says it already has iXtreme 1.51 on it. How do I replace the samsung drive with my Hitachi and have it work. I have been told i use jungleflasher and ive also been told to use maximus firmware toolbox. I have both but i am still unsure what to do. I need detailed instructions (step by step)

You will need to dump the firmware off your samsung drive and spoof it to the hitachi. The best instructions for this are in the jungleflasher PDF (google it).

    hi chris

Can i ask why you want to swap out a perfectly decent Samsung for it's poor relation the Hitachi? Is it just an experiment to try it out or do you just want a spare drive to swap out?

I don't mean to sound disrespectful but the Hitachi drives can be a PITA to flash..... spesh the 79 version with the unlock disc you have to write :( also with being the older drive they can have issues with bad laser and needing pot calibrations etc..

Have to echo what toaster said, would recommend you spend £15 on a BenQ which will last waaaay longer than a shitachi

ok here's my situaton. my hitachi drive has been spoofed to read as a MS25. When i go to the hitachiGDR3120 it says no hitachi drive available. However it doesnt work in the 360 i have so i went to go re-do it. so i click on unlock sammy... it fails at stage 3...i have tried to intro/device id..that fails...i have also done both after i manually opened my drive all the way and re-shut it half way. any ideas?

ok chris as far as i can see you still have to treat the drive as a hitachi unit even tho it's spoofed, so try to find it in the hitachiGDR3132 tab and cycle through the ports to see if you can find it, put it in mode B and restore it to stock then flash it back to the drive you want to replace.

rite now i am using the latest jungleflasher.

    under the Hitachi GDR3120 tab
    PORT PROPERTIES:
    vendor: TSSTcorp
    name: DVD-ROM TS-H943A
    F/W Rev: ms25
    Reserved: A

I cannot send to mode B says "no hitachi drive found"
I can open and close it but that really doesnt do anything
i cant do any of the flashing options or do anything with the drive options

Under the MTK Flash 32 tab
    PORT PROPERTIES:
    vendor: TSSTcorp
    name: DVD-ROM TS-H943A
    F/W Rev: ms25
    Reserved: A

Sammy unlock fails at stage 3..says device aborted the command
error register: 0x54 (MSB 01010100 LSB)
there is no flash chip properties except status: 0x51 after i try to do device intro

    Device Intro Failed
can't read or erase invalid status.

I have done the manual eject with the slider, opened it all the way then back to half...just gone straight to half... no difference..

the pdf says my 360 will think the tray is closed when its not but the light still flashes as if it is open

    and thats where im sitting

You dont do unlock sammy on an ms25, that was for stock ms28's only. Just click read it should read the firmware, but the firmware you have on it is probably right, minus having the correct key. You will have to hook up your real ms25 and dump the firmware on it. Once it has been dumped load the hitachi firmware as the target but spoof it to think its the ms25 drive and then flash it over.

wow. I would highly recommend staying away from the hitachis and getting a benQ. They are by far the worst drives, and sammy's are second. Why even change?
