Unplug the box and try it again but this time untick the maintain user data box. If this doesn't work try upgrade the software without establishing a connection. make sure the box is finished updating before disconnecting - you know its done when the light is flashing from red to green really fast (faster than when its upgrading). There's a long period of green light before this which makes it look like its done but it actually isn't, so unplugging at this stage can brick your box.
