I want to get one of these units, but just need some guidance and advice. What is the cheapest route to get a unit, something like ebay? Is it difficult to get the recorded shows on my PC over the network and burn them to DVD? On the website, I see Service Activation Fee Required. How much is that?
It's not that difficult to get the video off, depending on the firmware running on the unit. DVArchive is a good utility, and the site http://www.dvarchive.org , is pretty useful. Fee is about the same as Tivo - $12/mo.
