I have a Dell Pavilion laptop. I bought a new HP Officejet Pro (all singing, all dancing) printer/scanner etc a week ago. Since buying the stupid thing, now every time I scan a document to email and send the email, approximately 25 to 50 emails get sent. The email is always received at the other end around 25 to 50 times! My machine only sends 1 email though. Do I have a virus? Also, I haven't used hijackthis for a long time. Where is the best place to download an up to date copy? I really hope someone can help me. Thank you. Cliff
Download HijackThis here. If you do not have a antivirus yet I suggest you download and install the free AVG antivirus. I believe it has a feature which blocks viruses from sending out mass emails, and it scans every email it receives and all emails you send for viruses before they are received/sent. You can download it here.
I have Norton Antivirus, but I also installed AVG. Well your HijackThis log is clean, but on my first run through I must have overlooked that you were running two antiviruses. I would uninstall Norton if you subscription is almost up, otherwise get rid of AVG. As two antiviruses will make a system unstable.
