i'm buying an hd lcd for ps3.
and i'm wondering what is an ok reponse time for the ps3 or gaming in general.
i'm seeing pc monitors advertised with reponse time low as 2ms.
i want 8ms but would 12ms be too slow for gaming?

As long as the respons time is less than 16ms then ou should be in good shap. Whatching the set from a good distance for the size of the set will also help.

No no it doesn't help it (reduce it). It just makes it less noticable. LCD panels have a low fill rate meaning that the pixels have alot of dead space between them. Its easier to see the individual pixels (move slow) when your closer to the screen. At the correct viewing distance refresh rate only becomes an issue when something is mission critical like video games (ie games that move fast and require you to keep up to succeed).
