hello people. well i have vista and im not sure if i am but when i turned on my computer today it looked like it was working great. but when it went to my desktop, instead of it being my desktop, it was all black. but My Documents folder popped up... i searched up on it and all i got was that it can be a hardware failure. can this be true? can anyone give me advice? i have a one year warranty so do i have to return it. can someone help me out?

Pretty tough to make a recommendation. If you get no desktop, then you have a big problem. Possibly the video card.

Try booting up in Safe Mode, and see if you get your desktop. If so, go to a resore point, prior to you having the problem.
