I unlocked my hard drive using a tutorial I found on the llama site. Everything worked out perfect my drive is now unlocked! But there was a side effect. It wiped out my hard drive and now I'm stuck with a useless hard drive with now files on it. I tried doing the softmod hotswap but there are no files to patch it says.. "you will need to replace the cd-rom with one containing c and e drive files." But I dont have it. Can anyone help me?!?!?

well that's easy! Use xboxhdm and the hotseap trick (note u may boot the pc with the hdd already attached now that it;s unlocked) type xboxhd and press enter. select rebuild xbox from scratch option. Format and whenit asks you to insert the cd-rom with original e and e files put your disk in. Thats it!

I am assuming my screen name is my nickname (imabadboi). I sent you a pm with my email address if that helps. I now have the files I think. I downloaded slayers auto installer on a friends pc and burned it to put on my pc. Now I'm confused about how to get the files on to my xbox. I tried using xboxhdm as my xbox does not have a chip. I put the c files from slayers into my c file in linux folder c files using xiso. I did the same with the f files. When I started the pc I chose the option rebuild xbox from scratch. It then asked me a series of questions about the hdd attached. Then it went to install the c files. No problem. Then it went to the e files. That was done quickly because there where none. But I was under the impression that those where just game saves so I didnt see a problem with that. When the process was finished i typed it power off. When I put the hdd back in my xbox I still get the your xbox needs service message when started. I know i now have the files and the right tools I'm just lost on the process. Can anyone help?

If you have looked at my posts' dates you will see I've stayed up all night trying to figure this out so bear with me if I misspell some things.....ok. I think I've figured out what is wrong but I have not found a fix yet. It seems the flash trick I did http://www.llamma.com/xbox/Unlocking Seagate Xbox Hard Drive.htm unlocked the hdd and deleted all my files. Including the eeprom. I've downloaded slayer's auto installer on DIAL-UP wich took forever and copied the c folder to the linux/c folder in xboxhdm. Then did the same with the e folder and since I have the 10gb seagate hdd the f folder as well. I created the iso using the iso utility included in xboxhdm. I hooked up the hdd after restarting and and selected the option that says build xbox from scratch. Formatted and re-installed the c files e files and f files. Everythinbg went smoothly untill i shut the pc off and put the hdd back in the xbox. Nothing happened! Still got the error message that my xbox needs service. So I did a little research and found that I need to have the eeprom files. But I dont have them. I'm assuming the problem is my hdd is still unlocked because of the llama tut. I followed. I'm not sure but I think the drive has to be locked when I first start-up the xbox. So the question is does it have to be locked? If so then HOW do I lock it without the eeprom files? How to I get eeprom files? I used the xbrowser utility included in xboxhdm and browsed my /primas or my xbox hdd and all the files I need are there so I cant understand why it's not working!!!!! Please help me out here. : (

Should I just clone my friends hdd? He doesn't use xbox live so it shouldn't be a problem right? Do our version numbers have to be the same? I know someone can help me.

It's dead in the water with out the epprom. Your only hope is a mod chip, from what I have heard. Never used 1 myself though. good luck!

I read somewhere that you just need an eeprom. Any eeprom as long as they dont use xbox live. All I want to know is if I take my friends xbox, clone his hdd to mine, and stick mine back in my xbox, will it work?

imabadboi: Your locking/unlocking password is specific to your xbox. I don't know how to fix you situation but I'm pretty sure that's how it works. So copying your friends eeprom will not fix your problem. Sorry

I will type slowly so you can understand this imabadboi, you need the same epprom for your hard drive that is on your motherboard. On the motherboard the epprom is a physical chip with the epprom code on it. So your hard drive has to have that same code in your epprom.bin file. If you do not believe any one here go ahead clone your buddy’s hard drive. Or better yet where ever you read about you just need any epprom use that advice.
You are dead in the water with out your original epprom. Last ditch effort would be a mod chip.

I will type slowly so you can understand... You never answered that question with plain english untill now. I did not know about the eeprom files being encoded into the mobo. And I read here on afterdawn that an eeprom file could be added to any hdd and it would work. I just didn't understand that it had to be the same one from the original hdd. I appreciate your response but I dont appreciate the attitude that came with it.Nobody forced you to read you know. Anyway I plan on buying a modchip. I appreciate everyone's feedback!

you must be real dumb.. that's no use at all unless you have a locked drive you want to use for something else.. IT IS A DESTRUCTIVE OVERWRITE AND LOW LEVEL FORMAT .. go ahead.. use it.. then build an eeprom reader because you will just manage to brick 3 drives and 3 mobos using that without proper preparation...

want some advice? .. give it up and go back to school.
