i want to know how i go about making it so that people with limited user accounts on a system cant access certain drives or folders or the control panel etc any help here would be great
what OS are we talking about. if it is any of the MS NT OS, I think you can use mmc typed in at the run box, no wait there is a policy editor also. I can not recall right at the moment. The downside is the policy you create affects everybody that uses that pc, if done loclly. You will need a server to create policies for different logons.
it's starting to come back to me click start in the run box type mmc press enter click file add / remove snap ins under available stand alone snap ins click group policy , then add ...do not forget it will affect everyone that logs on.
nevermind ive got it now anyway. for anyone else who wants to restrict access and functions to limited users in win xp theres a download available on the windows xp website called the "shared computer tool kit" which makes it very easy to restrict access to drives and programs aswell as disabling things like the right click on the desktop
That is a tool that I am sure everyone has been waiting for. Here is the link http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/sharedaccess/default.mspx
