Restrict limited users

    i want to know how i go about making it so that people with limited user accounts on a system cant access certain drives or folders or the control panel etc

    any help here would be great

    what OS are we talking about. if it is any of the MS NT OS, I think you can use mmc typed in at the run box, no wait there is a policy editor also. I can not recall right at the moment. The downside is the policy you create affects everybody that uses that pc, if done loclly. You will need a server to create policies for different logons.

    it's starting to come back to me

    click start
    in the run box type mmc press enter
    click file
    add / remove snap ins
    under available stand alone snap ins
    click group policy , then add

    ...do not forget it will affect everyone that logs on.

    nevermind ive got it now anyway.

    for anyone else who wants to restrict access and functions to limited users in win xp theres a download available on the windows xp website called the "shared computer tool kit" which makes it very easy to restrict access to drives and programs aswell as disabling things like the right click on the desktop
