    Hi everyone,

I am a complete novice when it comes to technology. I have recently purchased a new phone (a Nokia 6230) from a friend. The phone is Sim-locked to Orange but I have absolutely no idea what a 'restriction code' is, or more importantly, how to obtain one.

If anyone could assist me with this problem, I would be incredibly grateful :).

    Thanks for your time,
    Gareth.

restrictiom code is when the fone is locked to a certain network like orange and you have to put in a code to use the fone with a different sim

read the link below carefully and your fone should be in link 1 or link 2

also reply if you need more help and let us know if it worked

Hi Hooter, thanks for your reply.

I followed the links provided in 'Link 1' and visited 'Unlocking4Free.com'. However, Orange is not listed in the drop-down list of networks meaning I am unable to fix my phone at present.

I have however discovered that my phone's serial number is: 355009005393840. Is there anyone here that could kindly generate me a restriction code?

Many thanks for your continued support.

    Gareth.

    Hi Hooter,

The phone came in an Orange box and I've always assumed it was under the Orange network.

Will any of the other networks you've listed above work with the Nokia?

Many thanks for your help so far, I greatly appreciate it.

    Gareth.

im not sure about orange what way it works
i tought it was like the "carphone warehouse" where you would buy a fone and then pick your network like o2 meteor vodafone ect..
but if you go on the unlock site and pick meteor, o2 you will get the wrong code as they are all different for networks
is orange not called something else or change there name like T.mobile o2 ect..
or are they just orange and orange network

    Hi Hooter,

The Orange network is a genuine one and there has not been a name change. Really lost as to where to go from here to unlock my phone.

Thanks for your help though, really appreciate it.

    Gareth.

    Hi Hooter,

I've looked at your link and have finally been able to generate some codes for the Orange network.

The first code was: #pw+397806112560510+1# and the seventh was #pw+103054626152262+7#.

    Are these any good?

Many thanks for your continued assistance. I really owe you one.

    Regards, Gareth.

it would usualy be the first 1 and if that is not the one then yes the 7th
but be warned you can only try 3-5 mistakes most only allow 3 and then you have to get unlocked by machine in phone repair/unlock shop or market place
so if you have not done any unlock tries, yes give it a go
