I bought a sony dru-510a to backups my kid's playstation 2 games, well I could'nt do it, I want to add that I did it before with a Hp burner, but I thought it will be better with this dual writer.
Because I could not, I look for a firmware, thinking that it will solve my problem , so I installed the firmware but still I can't do what I want. It is a little better now
All my backups when I play them, they start to load fine, I can see the intro but when I get to the part where it ask to press "start", it freezes there and that's all. before the upgrade I only got to the part where it said PLAYSTATION 2, so there was an improvement.
I tried different media and still the same.
So I would like to start all over again with this burner, that's why I want to put it back as it was when I bought it.
Is there a way I can reverse the firmware?
Or any suggestions?, I don't mind if it records at speed of 1x if like that I can make the backups.

amd 1300mhz. win xp pro, 1024 mb.
programs; alcohol 120%. record now and dvd decripter.

I searched for an answer for this before , so if it was asked before, sorry about it.

Thank you for your help and time

    caraloca,
My fairly new computer came with a factory installed Sony DW-U14A, firmware ver. 1.0d, which is the OEM version of the DRU-510A. What firmware version did you start with? What firmware version did you upgrade to? Last I checked (2 weeks ago) 1.0d is the latest firmware for this drive.
Someone else will have to tell you about reversing firmware, don't know much about it myself, sorry.
Just thought I'd let you know that my drive w/ 1.0d will burn at 4X using +R media with no problems and I believe that is the firmware you should get back to, if it is indeed possible.
    Free bump,
    Doohickey ;)
