Hi there i have a ricoh mp5125a drive with win xp, i can rip movies etc fine , *but* it does not like to burn to dvd+r discs. I ripped a movie did all the stuff made a menu burt it to dvd+rw to test it was great! , so i just click burn again and put a dvd+r in gets to 50% and the writer stop, xp sits there ...half hr ...an hr no progress! dvd light stays off. Reburned to another disc got to 90% then did same, why is it it burns to dvd+rw disc fine everytime but not the dvd +r ? ...is it the media, Ritek printable dvd + r grade A ++ , maybe the drive/pc is overheating?!... its summer and very hot... cud it be my pcsetup?! Athlond xp1700 512mb pc2100, 60gb hd, NO SOUNDCARD - cud this be an issue? - its just my backup pc., windows xp (cracked) I use neo DVD to burn. Also how do you burn data discs, i.e. back college work to dvd, it will not burn files to dvd tried nero neodvd, etc...
...ok i went to bigpockets.com for help cos i purchased the printable dvds from them, i noticed it says "The use of any 4x speed discs with certain DVD-R/RW Drives and DVD-R/RW Video Recorders may cause the Drive/Recorder to become unresponsive. It may cause permanent damage to the Drive/Recorder and to the disc if the Drive/Recorder is allowed to remain in unresponsive condition for extended period of time. Please check with your hardware manufacturer's web site for firmware upgrades to resolve this potential problem, or click below for more information." - i upgraded my write firmware sucessfully to resolbe this isuue, but now, the when i try to write to dvd+r the drive spins up and then just stops and sits there no activity zilch! worse than before
Hi I have the same drive as you, firstly I would just like to thank you for writting in, I have had problems with my drive aswell and thought I was the only one. I have found that the dvd+rw ricoh supply with the drive works great but alot of other dvd's dont work and freeze. The only ones so far which have worked perfectly for me are by packard bell.
