it is true that ripping DVDs with your burner is not recommended, is this true, if its true why is this not reccomended...thanks for your time ;-)
wear & tear on the burner so get a dvd rom drive as is also faster on the rom drive to rip than on burner
Well I bought a DVD-ROM drive and I have put it in zone 1 for watching DVD'S (USA) while my burner is on zone 4 (Colombia), as u stated it is faster that I rip DVD with The DVD-ROM drive, but if I try to rip a zone 4 Dvd In my zone 1 DVD-Rom would this cause any trouble?!?!?!
what ddp said above; i've read that burners aren't as good at ripping due to not being built for constant stop/start operations or something. Unfortunately i can't remember where i read it.
Most DVD burners have rip locks on them, so they don't rip as fast as DVD ROMs. But, my PX 716 actually rips faster than my Lite On 167T. The newest firmware puts the 716 in DMA4 mode as opposed to DMA 2 for the 167.
