I used CloneDVD2 and AnyDVD to get the full movie plus special features ontp the hard drive with no compression. I then used DVDFab Gold to split it into 2 DVDs. Everything seemed fine but Nero will not burn either set of resulting files onto a DVD. The Burn icon is greyed out.

I hadn't tried this before. Why doesn't it work. From the hard drive, everything, including the split files, plays fine.

in DVDFab Gold did you set the [bold]select output method[/bold] to DVD Writer? Make sure that the NERO BURNING ROM is selected as your burning engine! The program will use a temp folder to write to and then burn to your disk..... and so on! what did you do? did you set it correctly?

I used CloneDVD2 aqnd AnyDVD to get the files for a DVD on the hard drive. Since it was over 4.5 GB, I wanted to split it. Using DVDFab gave me 2 disk images on the hard drive but when I tried to use Nero to burn them, the Burm icom was greyed out, as if there were some reason it didn't think it could burn them. I also tried the same thing with the AnyDVD rip to hard drive then DVDFab with the same result.

Later I discoverd that I could use the PGCEdit/DVDDecrypter package to rip to hard drive and then use DVDFab successfully.

Just out of curiousity why didn't you use CloneDVD to split your disk, it does a great job and you can preserve the menu on both disks. Clone will also burn, seems you are going through an awful lot of steps. DVDFab Gold also rips and burns and will do all the new protections.

The splitting process in CloneDVD is manual and automatic in DVDFab, so DVDFab is actually less effort. Using DVDFab to burn has the same problems as going to hard drive first. It also will not do all the new protections. I have found their updates lag the new releases frequently.

I'm with you Arniebear..... don't understand why CloneDVD2 and AnyDVD didn't do the split job that Olc wanted and why DVDFab Gold didn't do the job either!? I always had great results with both programs!

It just seems easier to me to do split and burn with the same program. If the manual is too much trouble then use DVDFab Gold to split and burn why use Nero.
