i think your problem is that you didn't install the VFAPI reader codec correctly. I had the same problem. heres what you do, open up the folder where virtual dub is located and get into the plugins subdirectory and double click on proxyoff.reg and answer yes to the question that comes up. Last, get into the VFAPI directory and doubleclick on the vifpset.bat file.
Heh i dont have a proxyoff.reg in my vdub folder.... if anyone does just open it in notepad and cut and paste what it says's thx in advance....
I also found tht proxyoff thing and opened it and installed it and the vfapi thing still doesnt work....
Well i found it and i got it but i cannot figure out how to get ac3 sound to wav sound without freware or anything i have to pay for....
You can use Gordian Knot as a front-end for BeSweet to transcode your .ac3 into .mp3. Install Gordian Knot and go to the Encoder tab (far right). Click on 'Add job' (bottom left). In the popup window click on the 'Audio 1' tab (dead center). Now click on 'Audio Source File.....Select' (middle right). Browse to the .ac3 file you want to transcode to .mp3 and double click on it. Make sure that 'MP3, 128kBit/sec average Bitrate' (lower right) is selected, as well as 'Use BeSweet (AC3 input only)' (bottom left). Now click on 'Add Audio-Job to Encoding Queue (no Video!)' (bottom right). A message pops up stating that the job was put in the encoding queue and asks if you want to start encoding now - click 'yes.' When it gets done the .mp3 file will be in the same directory as your .ac3 source file was in. Okay, now before you mux this audio to your video, you have to play the new .mp3 file in Windows Media Player. Scroll to just a few secs before the end of the .mp3 and watch the timer as the end approaches. If the timer gets to the final time of the .mp3 and stops but the audio from the file is still playing then there's another step you have to do to the .mp3 file before you can mux it. Otherwise, the variable bit rate from the current state of the file will throw off your audio-video sync. Or, the audio will stop a couple of minutes before your video does. See if you are able to make it to this step ok. If you don't experience the timer problem in Windows Media Player then you should be good to go for muxing. Good luck.
