can you rip the audio from a avi file?i tryed to encode it with tmpgenc pro, the video is fine but no audio. PLEASE HELP MEEEEEEEEEE!!!!!!!!!
You'll need to set your recording input to record from "stereo mix". I use Nero Wave editor to record whatever files that has sounds [like AVI] to a .wav file.
You can either use TMPGenc (File--->MPEG Tools---> Simple De-multiplex) or VirtualDub (File-->Save WAV). VirtualDub File-->File Information command will immediately show the audio stream characteristics, so you can see (before extracting the audio stream) if there is some problem.
You need to do a De-multiplex, (or demux, same thing!) This is quite easily done in DVD2AVI, which can then package the music up into MP3 format. Save it with .wav or whatever you want to do.
Yes, DVD to AVI works with avis (as the name suggests You can use it to demux, which means split into audio and video. Paul.
You could try looking on our website under software downloads. It is confusingly called dvd2avi ;-) Paul.
Also pretty much every standard editing program will allow you to open up an .avi file, and save it out as a wav.
