Hey, am new here and was just wondering what the point was of me getting nero when it can't rip my dvds to create backups because they're 'copy-protected'. Obviously!! I thought that was the point of these softwares to allow back-up creations regardless! i already have software that rips ALL dvds and does it really well (about 97% quality). i already have software that converts my files to dvd writable format and i also have a very good converter which 'converts' and then burns to dvd. The reason i got nero was because of two reasons. i heard it ripped things perfectly (100%) and mainly because i thought it could convert two different types of media to be played on one dvd disc. i.e. i have some avi files and mpeg files, one can be burned to dvd and the other files to cd. but after encoding nero says that i need to insert the correct media for burning. so basically my question is- is it possible to get two different file types onto a dvd (or cd) if not, what else can nero do that makes it worthwhile having? thank you!!

You will need a program such as AnyDVD, which is not free or a program such as DVD Fab Decrypter (freeware) to break any copy protection.

    Answer to this is YES.

If I understand you corectlly, you want to convert one file to DVD format and the other to VCD format and burn both on the same DVD? I don't think that will work for you.
