I use DVD2SVCD, a deCss&MacroVision-remover which copies entire DVD9 to HD first, AviSynth, CCE SP 2.50, blah blah.. Over to the problem.. When making a perfect re-encoding, I first calculate the average bitrate and the length of the movie to see how big the output will be. But DVD2SVCD has only 2 output-modes for DVDR's, DVD-R and DVD+R. Will the output size automaticly be the time of the movie (in secs) multiplied with the average bitrate pr sec? And to the next problem - the menu. I use menuEdit to remove the extras-button (if needed), but how do I put the menu into the re-encoded Video-TS-folder, and make it work proper? I have to renumber the VOBS, I guess, but do I have to edit any IFO? Encoding CCE SP makes superb quality, pity it takes all the CPU on my lamish 1.6Ghz. Please - tell me how to put the Menu-vob and stills into the Video_TS folder... I am an old 8-bit assembly coder (c64 cracker), but the copying I did in the 80's was normally at 64KB's only.. Having an "Återfall" (Swedish expression for relapse) back to "The Scene", boy, I remember names like 1103, GCS, SCC and 1205 from the REAL EARLY days, when storing 4.5 Gigs on a disc was unheard of.. (early 80's) Bit off-topic, but WTF.. hi firstly welcome back, but be very careful on what info you care to share here as things said are not allowed, you may want to edit? also are you just trying to rip a dvd original? if so use dvd decrypter then put files to dvd shrink for compressing and removing extras and menus.. do you really need menus? as it will take them away... there is an app that will sort menus/parts but cant think of it???? for compressing a full dvd with CCE use dvd rebuilder it yeilds excellant quailty for the whole dvd! just takes a couple of hours to encode it.... hope it helps abit? if not its gave a bump to top of thread for others to see it!
Doublepost, but WTF.. As I said, the rip is perfect (usually only rips the movie, try to let the movie-VOB's as unchanged as possible) But I DONT want to make a CUSTOM-menu, never used the rebuilder b4, thought it was a bit too easy (allmost a one-click ripper), but if it rips the menu aswell I will deff' try it out.. Have several versions.. My problem is putting the ORIGINAL menu into my re-encoded VIDEO_TS-folder, and make it work PROPER, no problems ripping the movie, anyone knows how to use DVDdecrypter or DVDshrink.. Removing the buttons not used, is no problem, but saving it and making it interface with the rest of the VOB's are my problem.. Thx for reply, anyway.. Guess I'll be a regular from now on, slightly addicted myself..
hi sorry i couldnt help much, but still unsure what you are trying to do? is it, you want to take an original dvd and get rid of all the crap and keep the main movie and original menu, thats it? well shrink can compress each folder separate or make it a still image (its a shrink image built in) so all links you dont need go to an image saying removed... or is it you want main movie and menu but only 1 link to play main movie? anyway i think this may be good for you! http://forum.doom9.org/showthread.php?s=3b576ea448eae7ecee73f4cc25f09dc0&threadid=57186
HI ROTARY! Everything have worked itself out.. Use DVDrebuilder/CCE 2.67 Every rip within "Scene"-standard - 5 or 6 passes - extras ripped (if necessary) with VOBblanker. Thanks anyway! Trying to find a good RAR-HUB on DC++ at the mo' missing a few in the DVDR-collection.. DaviD
