Anyone out there that has had success using this media with the new Sony 500 DVD drives. The one I have is the external 500UL model but the specs are the same. I can burn the Ritek DVD+RW media successfully. However, the Sony burner does not seem to recognize the 1X Ritek DVD-R disks even though Sony claims compatibility to any DVD format and the Ritek compatibility charts claims that it works on the Sony 500 burners. PLEASE any help will be appreciated as I have a couple spindles of these that I spent mega$$$ on. Thanks in adavance!_X_X_X_X_X_[small]trinimon [/small]
What version of firmware does your drive have? My drive, a DRU-500a, came with the 1.0d and I immediately flashed it to 1.0f and use the double sided that are 2x and they work well. Haven't used the 1x disks.
I have used insite's 1X DVD-Rs that I bought thru Ebay and they work great on my 500. Shipped and with 50 disk cases that hold 2 DVDs each, I paid $90.95 USD including S&H. I have also upgraded to 1.0f and used Verbatim 4X DVD+Rs just fine.
