Hi, I have been using the Ritek Branded discs which are purple on top and a deep purple dye (Ritek G04). I have had no complaints at all with these, everyone has burned perfectly so far. I have noticed that there are Datasafe DVD's which are apparently made by Ritek and use the same G04 Dye. Does this mean they will be just as good because they are 25p Cheaper than the branded Ritek ones?? Has anyone used thema dn do you rate them??
I would stick with the Ritek branded ones to be honest, that way u are virtually assured of no problems.
Were these the disks you were originally referring to?? http://www.bigpockets.co.uk/product.php?product=DVD1081-25&session=a5637f929dbb0db5d155774e2e9e6fe3
They are most likely the discs he was referring to. The Ritek branded ones are better - the discs i find very good value at the minute are these ones: http://www.digitalpromo.co.uk/x862.html
The Disks that i am currently using are The Ritek Branded ones, the ones which has a deep purple G04 dye and on the surface odf the disk they are purple and say "Ritek", i am wanting to know if the "Datasafe Media" which are apparently made by Ritek are of the same Grade A quality, because they are 25% cheper! Here are the disk that i use. http://www.blankdiscshop.co.uk/acatalog/FOR_DVD_R_RW_CLICK_HERE.html They are the purple ones at the bottom of the screen code number DV 3098, the Datasafe ones are also on this page but near the top
Generally, teh reason for teh price increase in the Ritek branded ones (purple top) is that they are a better disc. Datasafe may be good quality, but they are not of the same standard as the Ritek branded ones. remember, Ritek branded discs are: Ritek, traxdata (best disc), RiDATA, and Arita (not quite as good due to way they are packaged). The RiDATA are the best value as they are infact the exact same disc as Trxdata discs, but packaged differently.
Thats actually false. Arita discs are of very high standard. The difference between them and Traxdata/RiDATA is really only the way in which they are bundled. They most certainly are grade A discs and you shouldnt have any problems with them. According to Ritek, the Datasafe discs cant be compared to the Ritek own brands, but i guess they would say that - though i do agree.
I thought the Datasafe Media DVD's were made by Ritek??? All this is confusing!! Ritek Make the Following Media:- Ritek Branded Arita ridata Traxdata Datasafe Media Am i right??
lol - it is quite confusing. No, ritek have these brands only: - Ritek branded (purple top) - Traxdata - RiDATA - Arita Datasafe is not a brand of Ritek. The quality assurance that Ritek provides under its own brand is not assured with the Datasafe. Most likely they could be discs not used by the Ritek Corp in their other makes. It is the same with unbranded Ritek - tend to be discs not up to scratch with their very high quality control. There are some grade A Ritek not manufactured by them, such as the Clone Disc from www.dvd-and-media.com They paid to get that disc manufactured for them.
Ive tried quite a few differant brands all with the g04 dye.Early on i fell for the old princo cheapos...total crap. Then i visited this site and aint looked back.im on clonedisc at the mo...great.But also the purple top riteks, datasafe media ritek dye, ridata and found them great too.In fact all of the g04 dyes have been good so far bar infiniti. They started to seperate around the spindle. And I reckon Oriphus has got shares somewhere.
Right so to summarise thjis up and put an end to this thread. The best Discs are these below. They are all Ritek, G04 dye and Grade A! Am i Rite! - Ritek branded (purple top) - Traxdata - RiDATA - Arita - Clone Disc
Hi I've been using Datasafe Ritek G04 for months. I've probably burnt 250 disks. All PERFECT!! The compatibility of these disks is the best I have found. They work in everything. I would have no hesitation in recommending these disks. The DVD-R ones. Fozzee
After trying two types of cheap unbranded disks, then Infiniti and BulkPaq, I switched to the branded Ritek 'purple-tops' several weeks back and haven't had a single problem with them whatsoever. My previous burns on the cheaper disks were mostly okay, but I *did* get a fair amount where the last 20-30 minutes of the DVD would stutter/freeze-up (typical patchy dye on outside edge of disk problem) on certain players. It's Ritek all the way for me from here on in, and at around 60p per disk (in batches of 50), they're not too hard on the wallet either!
