Ok i tried DVDSanta and WinAvi and both of them the audio was way out of sync and the picture was terrible!

Would it be better to convert them first to a .mpg or .avi file first? Please reccomend some programs to convert them to .avi/.mpg or another program to burn them to DVD?

EDIT:Just tried to convert with WinAvi audio was also out of sync and the qualtiy was dreadful!

    Dear ofolion,

Not too many video converters or encoders work with rm or rmvb, and DVDSanta and Winavi are about all that I have and use. I always get good quality from both programs, so you might want to check your program settings. I also seldom experience the sync. problem esp. with Winavi 7.5 which has become much more accommodative.

If your videos are downloaded, you might want to check for and correct any errors with e.g. Video Fixer before encoding. But be sure to back up the original videos first 'cos things might back fire.

    Good luck!

Well, that's about all I could offer. *_*

Anyway, the other day I downloaded a free converter called MediaCoder:

    http://mediacoder.sourceforge.net/

It works with rms, but the results are not quite as good as the other converters. But again I'm just beginning to play around with it. You may want to give it a try if you don't mind.

    Good luck!

I think i may have idenified the problem!

The audio stream doesn't start until about 5 seconds in...which on conversion is the same sync speed lag...is there anything i can do such as edit it and just put white noise for that 5 seconds? Programs for this?

Am pretty sure of this now as there is about 20 files i want to convert...i've been doing the first one just for tests but has no audio for the first 5 seconds...so i tried to convert one with audio all the way though. Worked great!

So now i just need to find some work around for this 5 second audio lapse?

You can delay the audio with DVDSanta or MediaCoder, but not the video. So no luck there.

However, there is a software called 'AviFixed' that can move the audio ahead or behind in an avi:

    http://www.free-codecs.com/download/AVIFixed.htm

So maybe you could first convert the rms into avis with Winavi, then use avifixed to adjust the audio if you still get the sync. problem.

    Good luck!

If you use the v7.5 maybe can do what you want.
And make sure you had installed the codec for RM/RMVB.
I think if you select the "pal" for target format, the quality will be better.
