I'm thinking about putting rockbox on my iPod. Ive had it on their before and it was great but it doesnt work with my iHome. I want to be able to change the background but iPodwizard never seems to work correctly. I dont know if it would be worth the hassle to set the alarm on the iPod and iHome or if i should just deal with with apples boring firmware. Any opinions?
Hi, I personally never used Rockbox (2nd Gen Nano doesn't support) but I did look it up and you should be able to use the Rockbox for your music and things but turn on normal apple firmware for night for when you need the alarm or whatever for iHome. (Just hold the middle and Menu button to reset and when the apple shows slide the hold on to the hold position, this should boot it into normal firmware until you it those two buttons again to reset.)That should allow iHome support again.
you can get them relatively cheap off amazon, but i would recommend an iriver H10, i have the 20GB edition, and not only can it b rockboxed, it sounds much better than the nano and it can hold more stuff and it has a bigger screen. Plus they dont cost near as much.
Thanks but I figured it out, gonna save up and get a Touch 2nd gen and im trading a friend of mine my 2nd gen nano for his 1st gen nano.. that way i can have the awesome touch and yet get a small nano to make sure I can always have my music.. but I change my mind so much I might end up getting that anyways. Thanks again
Well that worked out well for ya. Teh iPod touch is probably teh best iPod ever made. I should probably get one but im without a job.
