ive changed my dlink router IP address from the default "192.168.0.1" to "192.168.1.1" in order to enable ics (internet connection sharing)... the hardwired computer that is connected to the router is now connected to the new default IP via command prompt( ipconfig /release, ipconfig /renew). that pc works great. my problem is connecting my computer upstairs to the wireless network now. it knows the network is there, has 5 green bars, but will not connect to it for some reason.... it connects fine when the IP is "192.168.0.1" but im wondering if anyone knows what changes ill have to do to my upstairs PC for it to understand the IP change.

I tried to recreate your problem using my d-link router I changed the ip address. All that happened for me was it disconnected and reconnected without any problems. As far as I can tell you shouldn't have had problems connecting with the ip change.

The only potential problem I can think of is if you have setup a static ip on your upstairs computer.

You could try to manually connect to the network (if you haven't tried already).

You could try disabling security measures to see if you could get it to connect.

Instead of changing the 0 to a 1 maybe you could turn the 1 (last number) into a 2.

    What OS are you using?
What does it say when it cannot connect?

Hello, do you even get an IP at all with the wireless connected computer? why dont you try setting an Manual IP address to see if it gets a connection. It is probabbly that by this time you have already solved the problem if not, keep posting and we can help you.
