router settings

    does anyone know how to set up a wireless routers so that anyone outside ur house can use ur connection. like basically does anyone know how to set up the security settings to make it safe for the household to use it w/out hackers sitting out across the street pulling bandwidth. i asked a couple of times in my previous thread but no responce

    What type of router do you have? Have you read the directions for it? Where do you live? (j\k.) Contact the help line for the modem you have and they will be able to help. If you still have questions reply in this thead.

    That problem is easy to take care of. First you go into your router(defaut intranet ip address for a router is 192.168.2.1, if you don't know already). Go into wireless settings(again depends on what router you have)and turn on the Wireless access List. It uses the mac address of your wireless cards to identify your computers internet connection and your computers only(you do have to input the mac address into the router). Hackers my still get in but they will have to work alot harder to get in.
