Well, here is my basic definition of what is router is: "A system responsible for making decisions about which of several paths network (or Internet) traffic will follow. To do this it uses a routing protocol to gain information about the network, and algorithms to choose the best route based on several criteria known as "routing metrics" Now if you want to network your Xbox, then you will need a router (obviously) and 3 ethernet cables. Hook up your Modem to your Routers WAN port, hook up your computer to just a regular port on the router and do the same for the Xbox as well. And walla, you have a networked Xbox.
