I have a dvd9 dvd that is not copyrighted. I was tring to shrink that to fit a dvd4 disk. When I select the the disk on left of the disk copier is show the that the compress quality is good and dvd-r is sselected. But when it is done the disk size is the same as orginal. This started happening after I installed a new dual layer dvd+-r drive. Everything worked fine with my old pioneer single layer burner. Here is the spec

Xp pro lated updated, P2 2.6, 300GB, 1GB ram. Roxio EMC 8 with latest update. Burner - Samsung SH-S162a.

shakim- At the risk of being Obvious if it happens only with your new burner & not the old one perhaps there's a compatability issue ! Why Not just use DVD SHRINK !? I know you don't need it to decrypt the disc as you said it's unencrypted already ! but you should be able to shrink it ! Then make the Video_TS file into a Disc image that should fit on a standard SL DVD blank disc ! Which variant of Roxio are you using ? also If you installed Nero on the same computer That may be the problem ? Nero & Roxio don't play nice together! It may work fine or you can have problems & from what I read more often the latter! Nero & roxio essentially do the same thing so if that's the case pick one & uninstall the other ? Well with what you told me that's all I can come up with on an Empty Stomache ! Good luck & hope you sort it out soon Ciao!

Well Only thing I have installed on this pc is Roxio and the reason I bought this software was because of all the features it has including compressing. I just don't want to install another piece of software even though it is free. I want to be able to use all the features sinse I paid for it.

Trusted Reviews blasts Roxio 8 'package is fatally flawed'
Posted by Dan Bell on 13 May 2006 - 15:29 - Source: Trusted Reviews

This is odd. The last version of this recording software, Roxio 7, was a very good product and has been given glowing reviews just about everywhere you can look. So, now we have have Roxio 8, certainly, it ought to be even better than ever, with maybe just a kink or two, right? Well, this gentleman at Trusted Reviews says, that even though the software recording suite is packed with features, it's riddled with bugs!

Unfortunately, though packed with features, this package is fatally flawed. The central core, for instance, is littered with irritating problems and bugs. It doesn’t seem able to handle TIFF images correctly – the thumbnails come out scrambled. It’s one hell of a resource hog. Just flicking between the different views for standard PC folders, media organiser and custom albums can take a few seconds, and there’s a small delay when carrying out even simple tasks such as expanding folders in the tree view. And sometimes the file dialog just refuses to work.

The problems don’t end there. Though easy to use, My DVD Express is about as flaky as a box of All Bran and falls over at a moment’s notice, especially when attempting to preview your carefully crafted DVD movie and slide show compilations. And the rest of the suite is similarly afflicted, with applications regularly throwing error messages, freezing up, shutting down and generally causing frustration and disruption.

Well, don't candy coat it, tell us how you feel! This is very odd indeed and what is even more surprising, is that the issues could not be worked out prior to the release of this review. One has to wonder what is going on. In the meantime, we should watch to see if any updates come along to address the issues mentioned or if other review sites concur with this one.
