RROD Fixes

    I was looking here:

    for fixes to the RRoD errors but I have questions. I know that some people have red 1 ring, 2 rings and 3 rings. Will the solution provided by that thread fix them all?

    1 person has 1 red ring (bottom right)
    Another person has 3 red rings.

    Will the X-Clam fix repair everything? Because I can follow and buy:


    Method 1.
    This is the method involves no drilling. You are going to need specific parts in order for this to work effectively, and here they are: (these are Lowes part #s)

    8 M5-.80 x 10 Machine Screws #138433
    16 #10 Flat Washers – Nylon #139065
    16 5mm Flat Washers – Metal #138319
    Artic Silver thermal compound

    The RRoD is only if the system is getting the 3 lights blinking! If there are only 1 or 2 lights blinking that's not a RRoD. You may also want to look into Team Xecuter's Fix for the RRoD. Their kit is around $15, and I've read that it works really well.

    My recommendation for the RRoD, is to seriously just send it to M$. It's covered by a 3 Year Warranty, and even if it's modded, you can get the system back! My buddy sent his in with a modified drive, and got a new one sent back.

    Ah I see, how do i fix a console with 1 red light?

    First get the error code by typing in "360 error codes" into google. This will give you a list of possible primary and secondary error codes and what they mean and show you how to find the error code you have. I know that one ring can be caused by a hard drive error so take out your hard drive and see if the problem is still occurring. If you have a hard drive error, E68 should come up on your screen.That is the primary error code.

    Thanks, is fixing the 3 red lights really as easy as removing the heatsinks, cleaning the CPU/GPU and re-applying the coolant and then adding the washers and new screws to the heatsinks?

    yes thats basically it remove your hear sinks, clean them off, put on some artic silver 5 and bolt them doen to the mobo make sure you have these bolts go to lowes if you have one I included the part #'s

    and your set rrod fixed
