my copy of rb2 works! but only if I load the original, then when it stops at the blue footy field, I eject it and load the copy and it works, menu and all. found that to be strange, hope it helps someone get past the protection.

The problem is that the game looks for a PHYSICAL DISK and then lokos for the DISC2 Image.

Solution: Disable the physical Disk drive letter.

    START/RUN
    DISKPART
    LIST VOLUME
Find the LOGICAL number of your DVD Drive (#)
SELECT # (where # is 0,1,2,3 or something)
    REMOVE
    EXIT

USE Daemon tools to load the DISC2 Image
    Play the game

    Afterwards:
    START/RUN
    DISKPART
SELECT # (where is # 0,1,2,3 or something)
    ASSIGN
    EXIT

And like magic your drive letter reappears for your DVD Drive.

Hint #1 DISKPART is an XP utility that comes standard
Hint #2 DISKPART accepts DOS redirection for input
Hint #3 Daemon Tools can be run with Command line parameters

Hint #4 You can write a batch file to REMOVE THE DRIVE LETTER, MOUINT THE IMAGE, RUN THE GAME, RESTORE THE DRIVE LETTER.

Wingnut, does that method successfully back up the game?

    Yes: IT works
No: It doesn't Backup the Disks
True: It's the same thing as disabling the drive in Mycomputer.

Here's the BATCH file: (I called mine RL2.BAT)

    diskpart <"E:\Documents and Settings\Dad\Desktop\Games\Release.txt"
    CD "E:\Program Files\DAEMON Tools"
    DAEMON -mount 0,"C:\Rugby\Disk2\ccd-rl2b.mds"
    cd "E:\Program Files\RugbyLeague2"
    RugbyLeague2.exe
    cd "E:\Documents and Settings\Dad\Desktop"
    diskpart <"E:\Documents and Settings\Dad\Desktop\games\assign.txt"

    Here's the Release.txt file:
    select volume 0
    remove
    list volume

    Here's the assign.txt file:
    select volume 0
    assign

You're going to have to change every line of the batch file becuase it refers to MY computer setup. Change the Drive letters and the directory names to suit your computer. Check the DRIVE 0 is your DVD Drive (as per my first message).

ccd-rl2b.mds is the name of the image file I have for Disk 2.

Call the BATCH FILE RL2.bat and voila! You have a very neat way to run the game.

wingnut disabling the drive through my computer or doing what u said doesnt allow u to play the game, u can run the game therefore bypassing the first layer of protection but when u go into the game menu it asks again for the CD you press esc and the menu is there but u cannot select anything as they are all blanked out.

You need to load the IMAGE of Disk 2 with Daemon Tools.

I've only got ONE optical drive ... I assume that if you have two optical drives, you may need to disable them both.

    Guys,

I need to apologise for confusing things. I'm new to After-Dawn. So, please accept my Posting-Noob apology.

All this stuff I've posted is for making the game run on a PC. So it's got nothing to do with backing the game up. I'm using an image file that was downloaded via bittorrent (by a friend) so I don't even know where he got it from.

Anyway, RL2 is working here for me.

Once again, sorry to have cause confusion.
