This is sooo gone the wrong way. Now This is about playing backup RL on PS2 with SM3 or a Mod Chip. There is another thread for RL and PC.
    NO PC this is PS2
    NO PC this is PS2
    NO PC this is PS2
    NO PC this is PS2

Say this to yourself many times before anyone messes this thread anymore.
getting close to giving up on this crap anyways. I mean WTF

right, i've now closed the other thread (http://forums.afterdawn.com/thread_view.cfm/277902) now this one's open again.

AND LET'S BE CLEAR - this is about PS2, [bold]NOT[/bold] the PC version.

I'm gonna stay subscribed to this one so let me make this clear. Backing up your game is one thing, but PIRACY is another matter.

I have had no success but just to let everyone know. I can can confirm that my original copy will play with my Messiah 2 turned on. However the burnt copy will only do what everyone elses does and stop at the main screen and not let me select anything. I'm not entirely sure why this would happen as supposedly the game will not work with a modchip turned on.

Man this sucks. I don't care about rugby, but mod protected PS2 games are a bad omen. They're not worried about the PS2 as it's been modded all to hell, I think Sony's goal is to use some similar code for the PS3. I hope I'm wrong.

No worry here. There is always someone with enough skills to cr*ck software or hardware. There is not a single program I know of that is "uncr*ckable". For instance, there was a really good program I used years ago called 3d stud10 4 for DOS. It came with a dongle and supposedly "uncr*ckable" code. So a group (I still remember them...and still have the disks) cr*cked it. Awesome, right? Well they kept it up, and up to the current version 7 for Windows XP, hardware dongles don't stop anyone.

Believe the history of software...EVERYTHING is crackable. If it's made of computer code, it can be decrypt*d and decombiled/de-engineered. No worries, just give it some time :)

Dongles are software built into the hardware (firmware, like a USB plug or a Bluetooth adapater). If it was soo easy to buy one, why would anyone try to break the code? Companies spend millions developing code that makes it impossible to do that.
I suggest you read the Wikipedia link & school yourself.
My favorite cr***ing group of all time is Drink Or Die! The infamous DoD. Busted by a certain former U.S. Attorney general. Those were the days...

Wow Xhardcore your up on your piracy history. Would that certain U.S. attorney general be Will Ferrell err Janet Reno? Or the right wing nut John Ashcroft?

I was friends w/a member of Siege (supplier of many great 3dappz to the community) was awhile. Somehow I feel blessed ;)
And yes, that nutter was Asscroft. He was personally involved in the entire affair. Guess all that Pentecostal snake handling affected his brains: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Snake_handling

Personally I'm offended by that. I handle snakes all the time. After that I go out to lunch with my girlfriend Jessica Alba and retire to my beach side condo in Maui for a night of passionate relations lol. Oh wait, no that's just a dream. Just like the idiocy involved in snake handling. Anyways I think we're a little off topic and I don't want to feel DrD or Creaky's wrath lol.
