I was trying to install a HDD but I tried to move the DVD-R but eventually put it back (barely moved it, couldn't get it out of the slot) and now when I start up my computer it won't read anything. I can open and close it but nothing ever pops up on my computer that says there is a disk. And now it's not on my hardware list, did I ruin it or has something just come unplugged?

for me everything seems to be connected fine, now there are 2 cables where you connect to the DVD drive. one seems smaller, and the other seems to look like an IDE one. Now for the smaller one, there seems to be more than one of those laying around and does it matter which one i connect? power seems to be coming fine, meaning i can open and close my tray.

Thanks for all your suggestions, I figured out what the problem was. Plugging my new hdd in made it stop working, I'm just gonna have to get an external enclosure.
