Run Yellow Dog Linux (YDL) on PS3 Tutorial

Well. i'm shooting between $1000 nad $2000, canadin though, so that may influence.

 

Are you looking for size? Nothing beats a projection TV if you want size. They aren't that bad image wise either.

 

This is about the best you can get for the money. These Sony sets VERY good.

Ya, i want size, but one thing i'm afraid off, if they are really bulky.
and if they need maitenance, like to repair or replace the lamp in the projection or something like that, cose i was reading on other sites as well, and they kinda support more the rear DLP, more than LCD, but i still don't get all the minor details between all of those things.

 

The maintenance on those Tvs isn't much. All you might need to do is change the bulb in about3-4 years which isn't very hard.

 

Hmmm,,,,,,,, you think so? but other problem might be with the burn in marks,i'm afraid of that too. But its a nice tv, i mean it has good response time, it has all the ports it needs, although i'd wish for 3 or 4 HDMI, but i guess 2 is enough for the near future. and all the other inputs are nice too, including the PC one. Well its great, all I have to do now, is gather enough money for it. Damn, and I got fired from my job like 2 months ago, so I have to find another one now,,,,, that sucks cose it won't leave me so much time to waste.......'

Well I've had two projection Tvs for about three years now and I haven't done any repairs to them. Burn ins are more common with plasma Tvs and it usually only happens when you're have a static image on the screen for LONG periods of time(like a news logo that stays in the same place).

BTW I'm 16.

 

Could someone help me out, I keep on getting this

This happens a few seconds after package selection tries to run.
Can anyone help me?

 

hey, if u burned it on CD, maybe something got lost on the way. But you should put it on flash drive, or memory card. If that aint problem, just re-dowload from a better source. U can check 1 page back, a guy sent me a link with the CD image with bootloader all in one. U can dowload that one, but be sure u burn it at a very slow speed. I recomand at about 2x to 4x. No need to risk loosing information.

BTW, i wans't expecting a guy line u abuzar, to b 16, u seem very mature.

Haha thanks. I've been fixing up little electronic stuff since I was seven so I have been buying our familys TVs seen I was ten lol. Kinda get to know this stuff.

I got my first HDTV when the Xbox 360 came out. I had a party, it was mad fun. Although half the time we played Halo 2, not any Xbox 360 games, and the other half we played football lol.

Oh, my b-day is on 30th , and maybe my parents will decide to make me a present by helpin out with the TV.

Well I did learn English back home as well. As for the Warcraft bit, sorry but you can't play World of Warcraft on the PS3. It's because, while Sony has opened up the PS3 to Linux, the graphics chip is disabled when it's running Linux. With a minimal graphics mode you can't hope to run WOW.

Hmmmmmm,,,,,, I was hoping to play warcraft 3 Frozen throne online , u know in B-net. Cose i kinda figured that WoW won't work on it. Warcradt 3 dosen't have such big requirements, but i guess i will see later on, when i will actually understand what the hell i am doing on the linux. By the way, i kinda deleted my taskbar that is at the bottom of the screen in desctop 1, do u have any idea how to get it back? U lnow, the one that has the shortcuts to start, firefox, oppenoffice and other crap.

PLEASE someone help!!! How the heck do I UNINSTALL YELLOW DOG LINUX. I did a full format and then restored my PS3 telling the system to partition all of the hard drive to the PS3 game OS, but ydl is still on the ps3 as another OS!!! What is going on?

 

I don't really understand what is happening.
do a quick format, partition the hard drive, and re-instal linux.

 

No no no. I want to completely eliminate ydl from ever being on my pS3
