OK, to everyone who hasnt got a HDTV,

    just type in
    'ydltext'

after all that crap that it says on boot up, you will get a text entry that says..

    kboot:

At this point you have around 5 seconds (i think) to type in 'ydltext'.

This makes YDL boot in normal mode, not HD mode.

    Hope that helps!

Hi guys, I'm having an issue mounting shares from a 2003 Domain controller. I use the mount -t cifs //ipaddy/sharefolder /localdir -o username=blah, domain=blah, password=blah

and the the mount seems to work, however when I cat or try to open it, it will not open. I can see the files, file sizes and directory structure. I check dmesg I get "CIFS VFS: Send error in read = -13"
whenever I try to access the files.

I know the share is good because I can access it using nautilus and play with vlc via the nautilus smb stream.

I can use the same command for my XP box and mount the shares and open files all day just fine.

Any ideas how to resolve this? I found references to a similar problem in Fedora core 5 that was corrected in a kernal update, but nothing about it in ydl 5.0.1

    Any help would be appreciated.

    aupuch i admire your enthusiasm!

but really wats the point when it doesen have anywhere near the power of a standalone pc that is also simpler to use

I was intsalling the program and and had a power failure (general failure not the ps3) wen i got back to the boot screen and typed in install text it keeps showing kboot with a little loading symbol and after about a minute it shows the same kboot with a loading symbol will it ever go bac to regular?

the line looks like this "kboot: % ..."

(the % is the loading symbol the line keeps spinning)

Its reasonably priced compared to standalone pc of the same hardware specs. it outputs 1080i via component or HDMI. Its quiet, good cooling. It also has a Blue ray disk drive, and you can play all your old PS games. it also has some functionality with the PSP, haven't really investigate that yet.
I use mine to watch movies on my lcd tv, and its great. All I had to do was yum install mplayer, and edit the fstab to auto mount all my share drives. I have a wireless keyboard that it auto connects to, and a wired mouse with a long cable. It is simple to use, just different than what a lot of people here are used to. But different is not always bad, there are tons of places to get help online through the installed web browser, though not much help is forthcoming here, it seems.

For anyone who was paying attention, I resolved my issue with the 2003 server by uninstalling AD, since I wasn't really using it anyway.

from the kboot, try the command boot-game-os
and then reinstall without the power failure. if the command doesn't work try powering off and holding the power button down for 5 seconds. That will reset the settings to default, and from the sony gui you can retry your install.
