I am about to run 50-100 feet of ethernet cable from my computer to the basement and want to know do you need some kind of booster when doing this? I have never done this much cord before and I don't want any lagging.

is the cable ready made or do you have to put the connectors on? i've done a ready made 50' cable this past tuesday on a home network & worked with no problem. i've done a 30 foot cable that i had to put connectors on that checks out ok on a multi-meter but wouldn't connect, cable was from home depot.
