hi folks, is it possible to run OS x on a PC? that would be great because i would like to run apperture but there is no pc version of it and i dont wanna buy a f*** mac for 1200 bucks. thank you guys in advance lax
I heard somewhere that the MAC OS's dont have fan drivers so you could potentially melt your comp. I'd do some research as I just *heard* this.
Ok, now I've never heard of "fan drivers"....could someone please link me to some facts? System fans including the CPU fan come on the second you press the power button as they are connected directly to the power supply thru the motherboard and are controlled and monitored by the system BIOS. They are not run by Windows, or any other operating system that I am aware of. Now, it may be that some software for running system fans such as software power management may not be included in some titles, but that has no effect on the actual running of the fans during startup. It just means that the OS doesn't have control of monitoring fan speed during idle times. Simply put, without fan management, the CPU fan speed would remain at full speed. This would not be a good idea for those running laptops because of the power consumption and noise level. Yeah, after seeing a few posts around the net on the subject, I did some research on it..after seeing this post here, and that's why I posted the links to some of the conversations about the subject. For the longest time, I've been working on computers and never once heard, nor seen the installation of "fan drivers" which is what thru me off....so no offense takin' I hope? Just needed to help clarify to others that fan optimisation software may not work correctly for those running laptops and may run into the issue of having the system/cpu fans running at 100%. This also goes for those running Cool-n-Quiet supportive motherboards.
hmmm... well after discussing the fan issue - what about mac os running on PC? does anyone have any ideas? did someone install it on a pc? yours, lax
"fan drivers", lol. iMac's did not include a system fan. I think it was that g4's that didn't have one either. I actually don't even think imac's even had a chip fan, but I don't remember. That's what that feller remembered hearing about fans and macs.
Yes it can be done but you gotta mess around with the ISO , the OS itself.. Primarely the kernel has to be altered to run on NonAPple hardware.. Wiki has a good article on ther subject or they did anyway.. Apple sued em and many other sites publishing howtos on installig OSX on nonApple hardware
