I'm running 2 versions of windows , 98 and XP Pro,as i have some softwares that don't run on XP.So does that make a computer slow?
And also , i have an antivirus installed in windows 98,but it does't run in XP,so do i have to install the antivirus separately for XP,or is there some way to run it from the same installation?

No that should not affect your computer.

As for the virus scanner just install it on XP to a diff folder
    ie; Program files/AVSCan2

to expand a little, having a dual boot system does not slow down your computer at all. they are two totally separate partitions on a hard drive, and therefore independent and don't interfere.

you definately need an antivirus app for XP though. one of the best ones out there is called AVG 7 Free, and like the name implies, its free. you can easily find it by googling.
