Just bought Hitachi DVD cam and the store gave me 2 maxwell -RW ds blank discs. The problem is that after recording I put them in my dvd player which is supposed tp playback-RW and+ RW media but these are not showing back.I get something that says file data. Now I finalized the disk according to the instuctions and it still comes up the same. Before I got this camera in my dvd recorder all I use is +rw disks because they do eveything .I will eventually by the +rw disks but for now can someone tell me what the problem is.Why wont they playback?

    Moved to DVD for Newbies

Did you convert the files from your cam? If these are avi's - not all dvd players will play that format - you need to convert them first.

Nope - the files from your cam are in format like avi that needs to be converted to one your dvd player will play. Unless of course your dvd player accepts avi's. You'll need to check the specs on it.

But from your description it sounds like it doesn't.

So see 7thsinger's post on what to use to convert them - it's free.

Hope all is good w/ you.
