My new ADVC300 is on it's way. Thanks Y'all; two questions for you... Is there much to be gained from dropping another $150 on an S-VHS deck rather than simply hooking up to the composite connectors on my trusty old SONY?
While the new JVC stuff appears to suffer a bit in quality, there seems to be a ready supply of NOS Mitsubishi HD2000U's(a $400+ unit just a couple years ago) at the same price. Would that be the hot tip I think it is? I gotta believe someone in this most knowledgeable bunch has tried a similar combination, and might share their experiences as to capture quality and the playback of older tapes, as well as any HW compatibility issues. Thanks again! -mp

As far as I know the JVC 9000 series VCRs are recommended because of DNR and also using S-Video is superior.
