Im new to modding and have had a headache for 3 days trying to figure out a way to safely boot Modern Warfare 2. I've seen wave 4 to wave 3 patches, activate .iso disk etc. Will it be safe to wait an extra day then download an actual retail version and stealth it with abgx just like the other games ive burned? and would a retail version of a wave 4 game send a red flag to MS and result in a ban?

the rrod version is retail. of you could just buy the game. that should be pretty safe.

As a warning, and this just happened to me and I found some info.
I did active iso, played for 2 days offline and after deleting the fake name and points, etc, My console got banned, its not a big deal to me cause I use it for testing games and play it cause its on my pc monitor. If you DL the game, there is some bad news im surprised isnt posted here yet. Allegedly, (either MS or just a Jerk online) put out fake copies that are instant bans. You dont have to believe me, IM not telling you NOT to play, just do some research.

it's simply guys. You play games before release date especially COD, you get banned. Is it really that hard?

I'm picking mine up at 7 am. If anyone in the UK is reading this, Sainsbury's are selling it for £26 until November 15th or until they've got no stock left (which won't take long at that price!).

Even though I was lucky enough to get my hands on a retail copy 2 days ago ... it gets no play in my console until after 12am est. Too many stories floating around to take chances, even with a retail disc.

12:00AM EST: And the time has come ... let the shoo-sting begin!

12:15AM EST: LMAO ... Ban hammer has been swung. Oh well.

There is a rumor going around that supposedly there is a bug in the firmware that creates a detectable response from original games. Perhaps that is what happened in your case.

No, what happened was at 12am I powered on my console to play MW2 and it had already been banned (earlier in the day it wasn't).

So I never got to insert the game disc into my console ... the ban was already in effect.
