A friend dropped off their box for me to fix and I have no idea how. I'm a dab hand at sorting out SV boxes but this one has me confused. I have BigMaq toolbar and when I click updates/fixes for Dbox I get a small list - 1x chipset , 2x chipset etc. and, each of these has a small list too. So, which do I choose for this particular box? I'm confused. Thanks in advance.

Thanks Celtic. I regret telling folk I ever sorted my starview lol. Now I'm inundated with folk bringing their boxes round to get sorted.

LOL know what thats like :) To fix the Dbox I presume its a Dbox 2 we are talking about you need to replace the ROM 7 file with the latest one and disable the other Roms.

Have a look from here onwards http://forums.afterdawn.com/thread_view.cfm/109/369401#3950444 you need to FTP into the box and replace the file.

Thanks Scouser, I dunno if it's a dbox 2 or whatever. It's called dv3 on the front and has Dbox KT on the back label. They say they've had it for ages so it might be an older model. My problem is I dunno what's the latest thing to put on it??? I presume like the SV it needs a downloader but I see there's more than one of them too. What does 1 chipset or 2 chipset mean for a start. In the future I intend to put clueless dumb face on if anyone askes me about these things.

Well if I was you I would tell them you havent done one of these before. The thread I linked you to has all the info you need .

If you have used an FTP program before it is quite easy and you can use a static IP with either a cross over cable direct or straight through Cat5e cable into your router. If I were you I would have a read if it doesnt suit say you cannot do it as you may feck the Dbox if you are changing the ROM file.

Sorry Sky I have to hit the hills, but if you post on the thread supplied or just read exactly where I have linked you it will solve your problem ;)

Thanks guys, and gals. I'm not gonna attempt this. Fixing my SV seems much easier than this and i'm not going to start farting around with IP stuff, which I know nothing about. They'll have to find someone else.
