samsung 0800 issue, need help plz....

so, i am trying t oget my samsung ms28 into 0800 mode so it can be recognized by my pc. this drive is useless to me other then for this purpose, as its just laying around. but, i am trying to update an hitachi 47 and i cant get it to be recognized with slax. i have a via 6421a pci card, no raid installed, and in the right port, but slax wont read it. hotswap seams like the next best method, so i am going to use my extra samsung laying around, put it into 0800, and use it as the hotswap drive, but i cant figure out how to do it. cant find a tutorial anywhere. i tried hooking the samsung up to the xbxo the hitachi is in, putting the activator disk in, waiting about 10 seconds then turning on the pc, but its not detected.

information.... this samsung drive was flashed before, with iextreme4.2 i believe, but i dont use this drive anymore. would that cause an issue... and is there any other way to do this besides buying a SATA dvd rom drive... jsut curios becasue that is prolly what i am going to end up doing. thanks for any help.
