    @paiger: It's not a piece of sh*t.

    To be honest, there is no real advantage of SATA connections over IDE, when it comes to DVD Drives that is (HDDs are a diff story).
    I would like you to read this thread for further info. It should put things straight for you.

    Btw climbhigh, you're headed for a big fall now I just reported you!

    @paiger651,
    i think you might want to look at the Liteon ones.
    I believed they have a SATA an at pretty much similar
    price too and they will be way better then the samsung.

    I realize theres no real performance gain between IDE AND SATA burners.There are advantage's to be had for me though,the system
    i just built only has 1 IDE on the motherboard but it has 6 SATA connections. I also like the smaller SATA cables it really helps tidy up the small Dell case i used.This new SAMSUNG is suppose to be the first true SATA drive all the others are converted IDE drive using a SATA bridge.Here's a picture of my system to give you an ideal of the space the smaller cables will save.

    Well then I'd say you go for LiteOn or Samsung.
    They are the best ones, don't go for the Dell ie NEC drives.
