I posted this in the general area, but got no response, so I am trying here. My disk drive died the other day. It no longer recognizes a disk in the drive. Not a game disk, audio cd or a dvd movie. I have the samsung SDG-605B. Last year I started getting the dirty disk error so I replaced the laser. Now if I put a disk in I get the no disk message on my dashboard. As a matter of fact I get the same response when just opening and closing the tray. I put another laser in and get the same results (I have an older samsung dvdrom that has the same laser). I put the laser at the end of the motor shaft and it did move toward the motor end. Basically the drive is not recognizing a disk in the tray. Is there something I can check or am I wasting my time. A new samsung at llamas is 60.00 bucks, or I guess I can try gamestop to see if they have any old consoles and hope I get a good drive and spare parts. I'm just not sure where to go from here. ANy help is appreciated.
