   can't get it to playback a dvd+rw moviedisc. any help would be appreciated

   Check first that it is capable of playing DVD+RW in the documentation. If it can then try different media!

   your dvd player does not read/play that type of disc, it only plays dvd-r or dvd-rw, not +
