I'm sure this has been posted about, but I could not find it. Anyway, while playing back a tape in my camcorder, the picture became very pixelated(?). My wife ejected the tape and found the camcorder was eating it. My questions...does it need cleaning? If it does need repair, then is it worth it? I have heard it is better to just buy another one.

Also, the tape is all crinkled..anyway to repair it or should I just try to cut and somehow splice it? This tape is very important...my son as a baby.

    Thanks

I would splice the tape, and see if the tape was just a bad tape. Try a blank tape, and see if the same thing happens. If it does, see your owners manual to see if it is listed in the troubleshooting section.
