Hey guys, firstly, i couldnt find anywhere to post this so i hope here is good. if its not in the right place please direct this to the most frequently visited subforum if you may im registered here as KoMoDo or LILfeatha but i forgot my pass and didnt feel like trying all the combos i use so forget it.. anyways, i have been using this Sansui model VC-R960ES for quite a while now because it has AV support and my old Sony TV doesn't, in order to play my ps2 games. now the problem started last time i went to turn it on, i have noticed this lock icon in the display of the VCR all along, but didnt really care because it runs just fine with the remote, but without the remote, which for some reason stopped working and ive tried loads of batteries that should definetely work, that lock just blinks for about 5 seconds everytime i try to press any button in order to turn the machine on etc, the only thing i got on to get it working now is putting a tape in, and then pressing eject and it ejects it, but then i cant even press power to turn it off or anything because its all locked via the buttons on the player itself, i have to reconnect it from the power outlet to "close" it. so my question is does anyone know how i can disable that damn lock icon ? its driving me crazy and i cant find any sansui info on the web (let alone the exact model) i dont know if ill be able to get the remote working so this is sorta important Thanks heaps if someone can help me out here i will really be appreciative.
If no one here is able to help, here's a Sansui forum, you can ask at, and possibly get an answer: http://www.websitetoolbox.com/tool/mb/sansui1944?forum=22880 Good luck!
ok i still cant get a way to figure this out, if anyone here knows any ways or something or can help me look for some active support, i would seriously thank you lol thanks
I'll look around KoMoDo but I'm stumped, I'll ask around. Have you tried cleaning the contacts where you put the batteries; would a new remote fix the problem? I'll ask another guy on the site to read your post; knows more about this sort of thing than me.
thanks dude, it should be something used by alot of VCR's im sure thers a way to unlock the stupid machine. i can try messig around with the remote and the batteries but i really prefer just using the buttons on the VCR because i dont really need a remote for what im doing, just power and maybe program up or program down. there is a way to overwrite this if i put a tape in it turns the device on and then i can take the tape out and since its set to AV1 i can play the ps2 or plug a DVD player in or whatever, but guess what - i cant press power or anything to close it, its locked so its like a fault in the system lol, the only way i can close the device afterwards is by reconnecting it to the power outlet i really prefer just unlocking the device - then theres no remote and no tape to get it to play every time :-\ and then i can also use the AV plugs on the front of the device for AV2 in order to have AV1 as the PS2 player and AV2 as the DVD player to make it comfy to switch between them. come to think of it i can leave the device running forever but im sure it wont be good for it and its sort of going around the problem as im sure we can fix this Thanks again, off to bed as its late here in israel ill see what you guys can come up with tomorrow asap
Only other thing I know to try is to unplug it for a couple of days. Some equipment will reset to factory settings, when you do that. Not saying it will work for sure, but worth a try......... Good luck!
ok unplugging didnt work but guess what i just tried the remote again and it worked and it has a button called C.lock and i pressed it and what a wonder, no more lock! thanks for the help everyone
