I hope someone can help me with this.... I have just discovered that my Sanyo DRW-500 DVD recorder, which I purchased just a month ago, will not play CD's....any CD's. If I insert a CD, it just comes up as "no disc". I even tried to run the firmware upgrade from a CD-R, and that comes up as "no disc" Has anyone else had this problem, and if so, could you possible help me solve it? Thanks in advance for any assistance!
That's exactly what I did. Unfortunately, I have been unable to locate the receipt (note to self - make a folder for those damn things), so Wal-Mart has to ship it back to Sanyo, and they will ship me a replacement unit. Cross your fingers and say your prayers!
Well, my frustration grows.... I returned the original DRW-500 I purchased to Wal-Mart, and they got a new unit for me from Sanyo. At first, everything was fine, but after 4 days with the new machine, I am encountering the exact same problem - it is becoming very flaky about playing or recognizing CD's. When it actually does play the CD, the audio is distorted and the tracking jumps all over the place. I really don't want to go through the replacement process again! Someone here had mentioned changing out the DRW-500 drive and replacing it with a DVR-500 drive, which solved his problem. Anyone know where I could get a stand-alone DVR-500 drive in good condition?
may be worth rewinding slighly, you may be using crappy quality cd's... unless of course you're having trouble with retail audio cd's. you didn't say you see...
I'm having trouble with every single CD I put in the machine....commercial-quality music CD's, Kodak photo CD, Magnavox cleaning CD....you name it. I've unplugged the recorder, and will leave it unplugged for a couple of days. Perhaps that will help the problem. If not, I'll need to search for a new drive.
