ok i ordered a sata drive, (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16822144417) my question is will i need a special cable (dont think it even comes with on) to get 3gbs or will a standard sata cable work? my mb definitely will support it " SERIAL ATA # Controlled by NVIDIA MCP51G # SATA II PORT 2 port with 3GB/s support" never dealt with sata before so im afraid to ba a bit lost, thanx for any advice. this is my motherboard...would feel much better knowing what i need to get this drive going at full capacity. http://www.fic.com.tw/product/motherboard/amd/ktbc51g.aspx
really? some i looked through on ebay kept saying up to 150gbs...it all confused me...so any sata cable is capable of 3gbs?
hehe guess i meant to put a decimal in there, so let me ask you some thing about sata...an ide drive in udma 5 mode transfers at 100 mb/s and sata 2 goes 3.0gb/s...thats going to be a crazy insane performance boost as main boot drive? thanx for all the input.
i dont think there are harddisk that can handle that speed yet. so you will not be able to maximize the the 3.0gb/s speed if you will only use 1 harddisk.
